Statistics: Russia’s inflation rises by 0.08% in May 23–Mon

MOSCOW, May 31 (PRIME) -- Russia’s consumer price inflation accelerated to 0.08% from May 23 through Monday from 0.04% a week earlier, and reached 2.27% since January 1, the Federal State Statistics Service said on Wednesday.

Prices for fruit and vegetables decreased by 1.7% on average. Prices for tomatoes fell by 10%, for cucumbers 7.9%, for onions 4.9%, for bananas 2.5%.

But the price of cabbage rose by 12.2%, of potatoes by 4.5%, carrots by 3.6%, beets by 3.1% and apples by 0.9%.

Prices for eggs went down by 1.5%, for sunflower seed oil 0.5%, buckwheat 0.4%. Sugar prices rose by 2%, poultry and mutton 1.5% and 1.1% respectively.

Retail prices for gasoline grew by 0.3%, and the diesel fuel prices 0.06%.
